Vin, fromage, et L'Amour du Jazz

I  finally began traveling again, and it was definetly time to cross Paris off the list of places I must see.  I always had this feeling, prior to visiting, that paris would be a place in which I can easily see myself living- and um, yes that has now been completly confirmed.

The city has a great vibe, great food, and just the overall attitude of the place is something I can relate too.  I mean for one, peers in my age group have such an old soul attitude to them i.e listening to old school jazz at house parties.  I dig I dig.

I went with my friend Sam for one of our other friend's (Julie Roussel) birthday.  It was great because I was privileged to see the city from quite a few different angles (tourist and not so tourist).  As  well as meet several new people and taste various delicious reds.

This is merely the beginning of quite a love affair I will pursue with Paris, actually France for that matter.  Next stop is Normandie in the summer, Bordeaux, and hopefully Tours.  Final note is that everyone should taste a french Macaron, if you are not in Paris lookup La Duree and see if they are near you.  A definite must, whatever it cost's it is worth it.

Prost!

So in honor of a friends birthday and the upcoming German Lager Celebration (Oktoberfest), a couple of us headed out to the Bavarian Beerhouse.  Germans can really drink, the Stein's or Mass's as I later found out are equivalent to two pints, which is just about a Litre.  The pretzel's weren't as soft as I expected but the sweet mustard German's have is the nirvana of sweet mustard.  Yes it is that good.

In all it was a great experience and certainly reminded me how much  I love Asante Safaris, because similar to a German beerhouse in London, it is all about spreading culture, and most importantly allowing others to enjoy it.

In Transit...

As the title states, I am in transit.

How do I feel about it? As opposed to utilizing adjectives, I would rather fully describe the feeling.     I am excited, fearful, focused, hungrier than I have ever been, and with a clearer vision than I have ever had.  The reason being is that I know how this story will end, I am just unsure of how it will unfold before I reach the end and that is what excites me, because with each new step comes a new opportunity.

Ibiza

I was Ibiza this June, unfortunately I forget my camera and have yet to get in touch with the person that actually took the pictures; but I will.  I NEED those visual memories lol.

In the meantime, I decided to use a picture of the hotel where we stayed; Tagomago in San Antonio Bay.

They say Ibiza is the Miami of Europe but honestly Ibiza vs Miami, how do you compare?  I actually posted a picture in here as a visual representation of what I think of both, frankly because words couldn't cut it.  Miami is the little man, while Ibiza is that humongous crazed baby.

The place is just pure partying, it is amazing actually to see an island that is built on nothing but having a good time.  I was only there for a short while, but I managed to get lost, meet a travelling pharmaceutical distributor (by way of him just entering our room unannounced), and engage in a bunch of water sports-btw saltiest water I have ever tasted & life threatening since I can't swim (despite what they say in Kappa), but hey you only live once.

In all- cool trip!

ROMA- Skydiving Fail

Now this place is one of my top favourites, on food alone.

While I was there I could not eat anything but the pizza, which they sell by weight and not by slice(Genuis!!!). It is well worth it the trip but the city has a bunch of cool little knick knacks, like Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and of course the must see monuments.

I was also supposed to skydive while there, however somehow the plane had to go and get serviced on that particular day- fail. So this is one thing I have yet to cross of my list.

The Jacket!

I didn't really go anywhere for New Years, just spent the time with some very good amigos.

The night started and ended fast- Overall highlight was the Jacket.

AFRICA!!!!!

Going to and experiencing Africa is like skydiving- you are ensured to never forget how exciting and thrilling the experience was.

I love, love, and in case you missed it LOVE going home. It was one of the main reasons I co-founded the safari company with me madre (Asante Safaris---> Oh yea I plugged it in there).

I love everything thing about going home and love sharing the experience even more. So this time was doubly good(I am conflicted on whether doubly should be a word, smh at the state of spell-check)

Anyway, I was able to go back home to Tanzania with a good friend of mine. He loves wildlife and the outdoors. He had been to Africa(Egypt) before but had never been on a safari. Overall a cool experience, take that back - A GREAT EXPERIENCE and I highly recommend going at least one time in your life.

Hull - Yes HULL!

So subsequently after visiting the Dam, I got back on the boat( mmmhmm) with P&O Ferries, who by they way are well worth checking out, and headed back to good old Britannia. We ported in Hull, this city in Northern England, which for some reason(unbeknownst to me) is unpopular with any Londoner. It was made to seem as if I went to a part in which they don't even want to claim as part of their country- similar to how Maryland treats Baltimore.

Anyway this is no Baltimore that's for sure. It was pretty interesting it had a few museums, one of which was a whale museum. May not be interesting to some, but I don't remember any time in my life where I walked out my door just to see the bones of a 50-60ft animal or a gargantuan Wooly Mammoth

Was lost but now I am found..

Ok it has certainly been sometime since I last updated this blog. To be honest, I am not the best at documenting these travelling memories- I tend to keep them in my head.

However that being said, I do want to document them primarily because I used to love seeing what my parents were up to before I came into their world, and during their time everything went in photo albums. Our photo albums are blogs, and gladly so- because I always wished I could get some commentary to go along with their pictures. Either way that was basically a long-winded way of saying that one day I hope this will still be up so that my kids can see what kind of places I went to before they arrived.

Ok so below is my memory of Amsterdam.

Yep, just like the picture, Amsterdam is bizarre.

I am not too sure what the hoopla is about this place. There is no picturesque views, given I went when it was cold, but that's no excuse because Bruge is beautiful year round.

I truly feel that if what I experience in AMS is the effect of legalized illegal substances, then I am better off where they are illegal. The city was dirty and just downright bizarre. I did visit the coffee shops, however this was only for research purposes ;)
